Overhead lane direction control
Traffic Signal S16, S17, S18, S19
- Where you'll see it
- Above individual lanes, on freeways and other multi-lane roads.
- What it means
- To show, lane by lane, whether the lane below the signal is open to you.
- What you must do

- Steady green downward pointing arrow (S16) - indicates that you may drive in the lane over which the arrow is displayed.
- Steady red cross (S17) - indicates that you shall not drive in the lane over which the cross is displayed. That lane might be open to vehicles travelling in the opposite direction.
- Yellow arrow left (S18) and right (S19) - indicates that the lane you are driving in is closed ahead. You must leave the lane in the direction of the arrow.
